Ok so my upgrade is due end of the month. Options in my price range are Huawei P20 lite, P30lite, P smart and the Mate 20 lite. Samsung A30, A7 and A50 or the LG G6 (Photo camera and video looks really good) old OS puts me off a bit. P smart is in the mix mainly due to the additional data offered in the promo but also doesn't seem to bad either. Others are all have similar specs and pricing.

My main criteria is camera, space and speed of the phone in that order LOL. Im getting into mobile photography/videography so I could do with a good camera phone.

Currently have the P9 lite so any of the phones would be a good step forward.

Opinions from anyone owning any of these phones?

Thanks in advance.

I'd say P30 lite. Next is A30, then A50. All of those are pretty similar. The rest are older tech. What is "the additional data offered in the promo" for the p smart? I was considering a p smart, but it's not that much cheaper than a p30 lite for the specs.

Is that 7.5gb mobile data per month? If that's what you need, go for it. Is it the P smart 2019? It's not a bad 'phone, but just not as good as the P30 lite in almost every area.

From what I can see yea its 7.5gb per month. I have uncapped wifi at home but at work I rely on my mobile data LOL. Will check some reviews and maybe go see if I can find one of each at a store to check out in person and then decide

I am getting the A30, just waiting to feel one in hand and find out which place will give me the best warranty if I buy cash.

If you grab the A30 from Cell C, they have a dual sim mode. Remember A30 can take 2 sims and microSD.

I am using the Nokia 7 Plus and it supports the Google APK, so pictures are actually really good, but you'd have to walk in-store to get it. R349 a month. Haven't noticed any lag on it, and I get a full day's battery life and I am quite a heavy user recently.
Friend has the Samsung A9, its camera really isn't that good, especially low light. Only good thing is its ultra wide camera.

The G6 is god, but I would avoid as no more updates in one year's time (that's if you're lucky, LG has a terrible update policy). Do note South Africa stocks the Indian variant I think, not sure if it's worse though, but e.g. G5 was the cut-down G5SE here. G6 does have Google Camera support though: https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-night-sight-lg-g6-v20-v30-v35/

I'm not a fan of EMUI, and you won't have Google Camera support on Kirin, though you might get lucky and someone ports. You won't get support on Samsung either, but there is a dude working on trying to port it to Exynos.

I use lens a hell of a lot, lol, especially as can use to copy text.

EDIT: P20 on EMUI 8 might work: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20/themes/google-camera-huawei-p20-kirin-devices-t3882198
Don't think lite has the same processor though.
