Hi all,

After endless billing problems with MTN over the last 6 months, I want to move to a pre-paid solution.

I currently have 4 sim cards which I need to replace (me: 1 voice + 1 data (2 Gb) and wife: 1 voice + 1 data (500 Mb)).

I have two MTN E170 modems, but I read somewhere on the forum that the modems are not network specific, so I can use vodacom sims in them.

It seems the only option at another company would be Vodacom. I have looked at Telkom Mobi prepaid, but I am not sure if I can get the mobile voice and data on pre-paid. Also the Telkom website mentions something about "if you are connected to one tower, you will not be auto connected to another tower while talkin on the phone", which seems strange, or I dont understand this correctly.

Now, I see 4 different prepaid options at Vodacom: 4u,vodago, etc.

Which one of these options would be correct for me, and also, I would probably have to RICA the sim cards before I could use them. So where do I go to get all of this done in one go?

Do you guys think that the Vodacom solution would work best, or is there maybe another alternative.

Thanks.

I cant give you any specific answers, but your best bet will be to go with vodacom, I am also experiencing mtn's 'awesome billing system', and I will go as far as to say even cellc has better service.

I have been on vodacom, cellc, and now on mtn, and from what I can tell, vodacom just is the only answer.

Looks like VC then. Thanks for reply.

Also try the new managed pre-paid service by Flickswitch. Basically automatically loads data bundles monthly onto a Vodacom SIM, so there's no need for manual loading and no out-of-bundle risk. Clever.
It's like having a data contract, without the contract commitment. See www.flickswitch.co.za
