My HP 3in1 printer (deskjet F380) has packed up and I need to buy a new printer.
I've had a look at websites that recommend certain models (for linux) but these models are not available at our major stores.... Game, Makro, Incredible, HiFi Corp.
Has anyone recently bought a 3in1 printer that works well with Linux? I'm using PCLinux.
Many thanks for any input :-)

I have no yet had problems with Samsung and HP.

HP drivers on some printers are a bit of an issue, but nothing mayor while Samsung support has always been stellar!

I went around the 4 stores this morning and took model numbers and prices. There are a lot of HPs, some Brothers, some nice looking Canons and, Samsungs which all seem to be laserjet. I've been comparing them against the two 'linux compatible' sites, the very good hplip site from MickZa and the site openprinting.org.
Two have come to the fore. An HP deskjet 2515 3in1. R700 at HiFiCorp and R800 at Makro (uses the hplip driver). And a Canon iP2700, colour printer only, for R400 at HiFiCorp, and gets 3 penguins at the openprinting.org site. :-)
I'll probably just go to HiFiCorp. The hplip driver is already installed on my PCLinux so that would be the safest bet. I'll post here what I get and how it works.

I ended up buying the HP deskjet IA 3525 from Game, which was also R700 (but down from R1300 for some reason). I hadn't been paying attention on the hplipopensource site and the model I was going to get, the HP 2515, was not even recommended and had a lower 'support' level so I presumed it was an older model. Anyway, the 3525 finally got going this morning, using the hplip 3.12.9 which is the version installed, and seemed to work OK although I'm no expert by any means. Last night I couldn't even get it to work on Windows but maybe that was because of the number of beers drunk....
