Hi,
I would like some advice.
I'm currently on Vodacom with an 'Everyday Off-peak 120' contract, and am due for an upgrade - have been for a while, but haven't taken it since I want to decide on the right phone & contract for me. I might switch networks too - Vodacom's been annoying at times with dropping calls, losing signal, etc. and I might switch to MTN or CellC (not Virgin Mobile after hearing bad reports on it). I'm gonna port my number too.
Anyways, I would like to have a pretty smart phone with:
- clear phone calls and good volume
- decent camera, and ability to take video (video quality not very important)
- decent connections (3G/HSDPA/etc.)
- quick response time (don't want to have to wait ages to view/type SMS's, use the camera, view gallery, etc.)
- facebook, gmail, twitter, general internet browsing
- ability to view sites in normal view, not just mobile view, is a plus obviously, but not really important
I use facebook quite a lot, and would probably use Gmail and other Google related apps/sites more if supported by the phone.
What would you suggest I go for?
I've been thinking about going for BlackBerry (the Pearl 9105), mainly due to the unlimited browsing with BIS, because this might work out cheapest in the end. Though I've definitely been interested in getting an Android based phone - HTC Desire, and I guess the HTC Desire HD since it seems to be out/coming; I have seen that the Desire has quite a waiting period, preferably I'd just go for a phone that's available right NOW, but I don't mind waiting a week or two. Is the iPhone 4 worth it in terms of costing? And how does the Samsung Galaxy compete; had bad experiences with Samsung before... And I'm currently using a Nokia N73, which has made me never want to go back to Nokia again!
At a (maybe low) estimate I think I use about R300 on calls and 250MB data per month.
Any suggestions/advice welcome
Cheers,
James
