I want to get an LCD screen, around 23" or so. I've noticed that PC Zone has the B2330H (1920x1080, 5MS, 70 000:1) for R1400 and the BX2331 (Which I have only just noticed is LED, 1920x1080, 2MS, 5 000 000:1) for R1600.
Would there be any noticeable difference between the two?
As in R200 worth of difference?
TIA

LED is worth the R200 diff - blacker blacks and brighter colours

Yes slight there is a noticeable difference between the 2 regarding sharpness of the picture. Also the LED one uses less power and has a 2ms response time. The price difference is only R200 so it's not that much more.

Sounds like LED[-]-backlit LCD[/-] hype to me...

I'd take it based on the fact it's slimmer and consumes less power. I would not expect better image quality. Neither would I expect better blacks because only LED-backlit LCD's dynamic contrast ratio is better, which really only applies to screens in dark rooms I hear.

The so called "LED screens" is just a marketing hype. It's just the backlight that's LED - got no bearing on image quality, as it's still a LCD screen.

I've got a new 24" LG LED backlit screen and an old 23" Samsung 233SW - and to be honest I prefer my old Samsung.

Just to be technically correct, it's the edges that are back-lit. ;)

I have to agree, they really milking the industry with their "LED" nonsense.

It's an LG screen. There's your problem there.

OK thanks guys, the BX2331 it is! Now I just have to save up for it...

I see PC Zone is selling the Samsung BX2450 24" for R1800, and an LG W2443T-PF 24" for R1400. Is it worth it paying an extra R200 for the extra inch? And should I rather get the Samsung than the LG?

Yes and yes.

Guys, the BX2450 doesn't seem to have DVI, so would it still be possible to use Eyefinity with it? Or what alternative similar screen(s) is there?

Check these out , price could be old... gives you rough idea.

What about the Philips 234el?

Last time I ever trust a PCF review. I bought one on Saturday and it's a nice screen but it's terrible for gaming. I've never noticed major ghosting on any of my previous 5ms samsungs, but the philips screen has visible ghosting.

Good thing I still have my 2ms Samsung for games.

I have looked at both screens at PC Zones, I have a B2330 (2ms) in my office, one at home and another older 50 000:1 23" 2333H (5ms) LCD. I cant see any difference in picture quality & response between the 5ms & 2ms. The LED 23" looks nice, but it has no mounting bracket holes on the back (My LCD's are mounted to the wall at home.) If the LED had mounting capability, would have opted for it (just because its newer!). As for benefits, LED is going to outlast LCD and consume less power and have a higher contrast ratio....
