From your observations of friends, family, and colleagues, which software is pirated the most?

"Observed" - sure. :p

Most likely: Windows, Office and Photoshop.

Nope, there is a version which popping up with the remind to purchase isn't there?

I'm sure on some strictly legal terms the fact that it's expired and you keep using it (even though they don't force you not to) would technically make it piracy in the same way you breach the terms of use when illegally copying software.

If that is true then I would agree it's probably the most pirated thing out there.

Older Office.

Then expensive design software. Some people keep their systems offline and on an way older date to keep the software alive.

Back in the days before Mweb dropped the uncapped bombshell, we basically had no other way of playing CS:Source.

Nowadays, even pirating an OS is pretty stupid as you can run windows 10 quite happily without a licence. Most people who pirate are guaranteed to have encountered the nastiness of viruses and the effort required to clean them up. If I had to put on the tinfoil hat, I would say it is the game developers who put viruses in the cracked versions of their exes, then upload them. Ditto for office software and such.

Nothing makes you more appreciative of non-pirated software than having your computer suddenly become unusable at a project-critical time. This is the exact reason why piracy doesn't pay off if you need the software for your livelihood.

Games for sure, A person will pirate 1 copy of windows then he pirates 50+ games on that computer.

Windows, MS Office and high end design suites like Photoshop, Premiere, Cubase etc.
