Which SP is on which ISP Backbone?

Hi there

Does anyone out there know which ISP's backbone the various SP's use to supply internet to their subscribers?

One would assume MTN is sitting in IS's backbone and Vodacom on SAIX, but from my observation this doesn't seem to be the case?

Any ISP worth their salt is buying transit from at least 2 upstream providers. Most of the big local players are getting bandwidth from 3 or 4 upstreams and have further peering links with half a dozen other ISPs.

What do you want to achieve by knowing this information anyway?

In short ....

I am trying to compare internet speeds between the different SP's but want to be fair in where to test to.
I know JINX can be a point of congestion, so I am trying to get links from each data card to an optimal ISP server.

Please tell me how you KNOW that

All the guys doing big traffic volumes through JINX are connecting on 1Gbps or 10Gbps and not currently using anywhere near the full capacity of those ports.
