Which SSD? Please advise

Intel X25-V Series - 80GB Solid State 2.5 SATA II Plus Drive - MLC Based - Performance Drive R 1,799 excl. R 2,050 incl.

pcint.co.za

Depends what you plan on doing with it, just basic pc stuff and gaming then r/w is not really a big concern

K i plan to install windows 7, Photoshop, current game/s i'm playing and basic utility apps on the drive.

And I've read something about MLC and the other one (what ever it was). I see most are MLC.
And i assume read time is where you'll see bigger performance gains for basic use?

Make sure you get the Intel X25-M GEN2 - VERY important you get the "generation 2".

Magic drive :)

I also have the X25-M and it is superb!! Just a tip if you can, save up for the 160GB version if your budget allows. I am regularly prioritizing witch apps and games to put on my drive, will go bigger by year end when new drives from Intel come out :D

EDIT: What you are looking for is quick random read/write for a good OS drive

rofl. I know just what you mean! I almost bought the smaller one, but ended up buying the 160gb, and I keep running out of space haha. Keep having to shift trash to my other drives. But geeeez is this ssd pure magic!

I still love how snappy these drives are, we will see some serious speed and price competition later this year. These new Sandforce based drives are kicking up quite a big storm!

Hold up on getting a drive now. 22nm (iirc) tech will be rolling out near the end of the year and will basically mean double the storage for the same price

I'd love to read that article.. Just waiting for seacom to let me use the internet again.. You know how things go..
Ok so i got Christmas planned then :D Will wait and see what comes around the corner.

*bumping*
Are there any articles related to the 22nm SSD's? As far as I can find they only scheduled for mid 2011?
So I was thinking of just going for a Sandforce based at the moment.
Either the

G.Skill Phoenix Pro 60GB @ R1 713

Corsair F60GB2 @ R2252

Any others to consider?
EDIT: I'm starting to consider the G.Skill 120GB version @ R3300.. But is a little pricey

I currently only have a 250GB drive in my PC, so thought of getting the G.Skill 60GB SSD and the Seagate Hybrid 500GB drive . Wich will come in at less than the 120GB SSD..

Looks great but the Intel X-25M 80gb is arguably just as good a choice.
edit: Looked at the Anandtech review of the SF-1200 controller, it's actually a little faster than the Intel! Nice.
