What would you recommend betweem NAS or Portable Hard Drive

Well, first, that NexStar can only hand 2TB so there's a problem there.
As for whether to NAS or Portable - That really depends on whether you want to move the data around often. Also, if you're going to access it from more than one system, a NAS may be the best choice as you wouldn't need to set up shares on the PC the drive is attached to if it were a portable drive, and it'd always be accessible.
Both formats have their pro's and con's though.
