Which tab to get?

Hi all..

Well i decided to get tablet but dont know which one..well ok i know which 2 i really like..

Samsung galaxy 10.1 or the Motorola Xoom..

Can anyone tell me which one to go for?? I'v seen the specs of both but still cant decide :/
PLUS...same price for both..

I wouldn't recommend a Xoom. Then again at current prices I would only really recommend an iPad3. Failing that, a Transformer Prime. A tablet IS a screen, so get the best screen you possibly can.
 
Motorola Xoom? What? Yeah what cerebus said. iPad 3 is my recommendation. Otherwise Asus Transformer prime.
 
I think the question should rather be, why do you want the tablet? For test purposes, a R1k tablet should show you whether a tablet is usable for you . If you like the experience, you can decide what you want to use it for.

Sorta disagree, i had a 1k tablet and it was NOTHING like a proper one! I never used it had it for about a year, sold it and got myself an ipad and im on it daily for a good couple hours! Most mornings i wake up, read the news, check emails, browse forums etc. Then gets used throughout the day(as well as at varsity), and then in the evening i browse the web etc!
 
hmmm Well i probably be using it for email,forums ,movies and some light gaming now and then..o and probaly some browsing..

Ipad doesnt have affordable contracts...
 
Oh and Galaxy has better specs than the Ipad..but the Ipad has crustal clear screen ..LED

Thats all i could pick up..from youtube and forums

That's about as useless a summary as you could possibly have hoped for. Galaxy has better specs in what regard? iPad has an IPS display, not normal LED. What kind of apps and user experience do you want? And which iPad are you looking at? Or which Galaxy 10.1 for that matter, since there are now 2 of them on the market?

Ok look before you commit to buying anything, go into Incredible or Dion's and spend some serious time with the demo units of all the tabs you're interested in. The Tab, the Xoom, the Ipad2 and 3. Get a feel for them and then you'll be better equipped to decide. We can't make up your mind for you.
 
After using the iPad 3 for a while, it really sucks going back to a normal display. I would wait a while to see what happens over the next month or two and see what new deals are introduced.
 
Ok to be honest im a android fan..but after some research and looking at the Ipad 3 ..It really has some greate looking features and seems to be such a slick device :)
 
I am very biased I have played with Ipads and have a Xoom 3G on ICS.
Its beyond amazing. I am really very happy and you can also connect usb hard drives and flash drives to it.

Its really awesome, Pitty you not in JHB - you would be welcome to play on it
Oh and the video MKV, etc are great
 
Get the Galaxy Tab. I have had one for a 'test month' (it's a friend's) and it works pretty well. Loads of free apps as well and there are accessories for it. i personally would not recommend iPad, although it has many benefits on its side, but I just dont like knowing that every year, a new one will come out.
 
Ok guys..so i decided on the New Ipad insted....

Just cause it seems alot more smoother an stable..plus that display just gets me :)...greate cam features aswell..overall preformance just seems to go in the Ipads favor..

Funny thing i picked up is..android have so many devices to beat ONE Ipad?...they only have the one and its one of the best tablets out there..

That Retina display is amazing, I cannot fault it, absolutely beautiful. Also, Android is an operating system and thus goes head to head with iOS and soon Windows OS as well. There are many MANUFACTURERS of tablet pc's which all run on Android. Thus each manufacturer is trying to get their share of the tablet pc market and compete with each other, of which the iPad is also a competitor. Most tablet pc manufacturers also only have one tablet pc offering, expect for Samsung IIRC (there probably are more manufacturers), so it's not only the iPad that has 'one device'. Lastly, Apple allows only one manufacturer of their iPad, which is themselves, whereas Android can be used in any device.

Anyway, I hope that it meets your requirements and that you enjoy it :) it is a good device
 
Love my iPad. It does what it's supposed to do and looks good doing it. I wouldn't mind having an Android tablet too, but that'll have to wait.
