Hi.

We want to upgrade our TV from the old tube ones to a LED. We are looking to buy a 48".

This weekend HiFi Corp has the following prices on 48" sets:
Hisence: R5 999.90
Sansui:R4 799.90
Samsung: R6 999.90

Because of the price, we can choose between the Hisence and Sansui. Which one would you recommend?

Samsung.

In fact spend a few rand more and get the 48H6400 instead of buying a piece of crap.

Rather get a 42" Samsung/LG/Sony than those other brands.

I got the Sammy 48" smart TV. Haven't had a day's issue with it and it connects via wifi as well as working perfectly well with my PS4 etc as a gaming screen.

The cool part is screen mirroring where you can stream stuff from your phone or tablet straight to your TV screen over wifi. It's how I watched the rugby last night.

Pity Samsung/LG 60" plasma is out of your budget, would destroy any TV here, most higher end LCDs too.

You enter your TV Lic number on checkout.

can confirm bought a TV from takealot last year this time. had to get a tV licence in order to buy it now the SABC is harassing me to reniew...

Now come on Postman...you know that's a massive blanket you are using there.

My 6-series LED blows my 5-series Plasma away in pretty much all things except a wee bit of backlight clouding on pure grey uniform images (that aren't even representative of the real world).

You know I'm pro-plasma as much as you are...but higher end ones. Cheap as chips Plasmas are ***.

Jirre that is insane. Prefer buying from a retailer to be honest. Easier when something goes wrong....

You won't find better service.

Firstly your 5 Series plasma is old, secondly many on this forum have attested to their 5 Series plasmas (as well as the aforementioned H5000 5 Series) blowing their higher end LCDs away.

In fact someone even returned their 6 Series LCD for the H5000, IIRC.

Comes down to personal preference and the sensitivity of one's perception. If you cannot walk into any room and tell if a TV is plasma or not, then you most likely wouldn't care or be able to tell much of a difference.

Besides the point though. Even if you think it's not better, it's as good, and half the price for the size.

And I'll place a bet that the LCD pales in comparison when it comes to motion handling.
