Which to choose - 3g / ADSL???

I've read most of the posts concerning iBurst... :sick: so my choice seems to be between 3g and ADSL, and which service provider? Most service provider's seem to be offering something different.
I'm using 3g at the moment but unhappy with their 'sometime' service online, and zero customer service :(.

Any advice will be welcome.

Stay away from 3G biggest load of **** ever when u don't have signal and u get way over charger. R250 for 500mb = huge @ss rip off
 
you stationary = adsl
you mobile = bite the bullet, take the pain, pay the premium for 3g.
 
In this country even though we are all been ripped off no matter which you choose if ADSL is available go that route as it's the most stable of the lot, and remember to go month 2 month with whichever you finally decide on.
 
Adsl is best value for money , more stable. I've been using HSDPA for a while, and now a mix of the 2 (need to be mobile sumtimes) . Slower ADSL is way better than HSDPA..Browsing seems great on ADSL ...downloading of large files is much better on HSDPA. But with data prices on HSDPA .. most people won't download large files!

I used Iburst as well.. I had no problems when the signal was great. If you live close to a tower , well then its ok infact the 1gig account costs the sames as telkom's 1G total package.

I'd recommend Both Adsl & HSDPA if you can afford it with ADSL as your primary and HSDPA as your backup and mobile.

Then configure packages to meet your needs.

To me ADSL service providers are an oxymoron. All others aside from Telkom are middlemen resellers who have to buy from Telcom/SAIX anyways.
Even IS works off the SAIX backbone.
I prefer to deal with the source, but truth be told, they all suck in more ways than one.

I may stand to be corrected :D

As for HSDPA service providers - I stick with Vodacom (also owned by Telkom) Other options are MTN (at least with their own infrastructure but in my experience always lagging behind Vodacom ) and Cell C ( a Squatter dressed up in Glam) but in this country a Monopoly always wins so choice is obvious.
 
ADSL...unless you need the mobility of 3G or can't get adsl in your area for some reason.

As you have so rightfully mentioned, stay away from iBurst unless you enjoy watching numbers disappear before your eyes, by that i mean on your bank account as well as your monthly bandwidth usage. I have just switched to ADSL and very happy, service has been satisfactory so far and it is much more stable than iBurst ever was.

As Garden router mentioned, if you cool with a fixed line, go ADSL without a doubt and get your ISP through Telkom. Why go to the middle man? ;)
