Which tyres?

TWT have specials on Velocity at the moment. More than adequate tyre for your RXi.

Whatever you do don't touch those, I had a very bad experience with them in the past very prone to pick up punctures and 3 out of my four had them, one was even at night in a shady area, really I even suggest you go to supaquick and just ask them which Chinese tyre brand they've had good feedback on then buy it if you want cheap. Also Dunlop is crap btw.

If you want the best tyres though then you can't go wrong with the usual suspects Bridgestone, continental, Goodyear, Michelin, toyo etc personally I prefer the continentals as they have a good balance between comfort, grip and lifetime.

Just please don't touch velocity tyres, I honestly thought they would have pulled it off the market by now.....

Depends... on price mostly...

Depends on the tyre model really and what it's costing you:

Some (e.g. Pirelli) have an indicator/rating of tyre noise, how good it is in adverse weather conditions, for fuel economy which is quite nice to compare.

Brands - I think Continental, Pirelli, Michelin, Yokohama, Bridgestone are pretty good, but research the specific tyre...

Sending an email to a few dealers asking what they have in your spec with price may be a good starting point.

Have you ever considered Hankooks? I have had only happy days with my set on the R.

Have you seen the price of Hankooks lately. They will be a bit overkill on his RXi anyway.

Comments on the Bridgestone MY-01's?

Any input about Falken's?

I had those on my old Velociti golf and they were great. Put them on after 2 of my 4 new dunlops got bubbles on the inside of the tyre wall. Never had any problems with them until I sold the car. So good tyre I think.

I normally love supporting local south african companies but Dunlop  even the Chinese make better tyres IMO.

Thankfully you aren't hurting a local company if you don't buy Dunlop, they're owned by an Indian tyre company now.. Apollo Tyres

You can look at the bridgestone RE-002.
It is a bit of an expensive option but I have them on my opel in that size and I love them.
It has a bit of road noise but the grip in the dry, it feels like you are using semi's.
In the wet, so much confidence under braking and turn in response.
I have had them on for over 50 000kms still got about 5 - 6 mm of tread left.

Last tie I checked, they were about R1300 a tyre for the 195/50/15.

I just fitted Conti Premium 5s on my car, same size as yours. Paid R795 per tire including fitment and balancing.

Have Pirelli Cinturato P1 195/65/R15 on my Corolla, definitely going to get them again when the current set is worn out :)

Running Achilles on my Golf now and quite happy with them.

Apparently a Yokohama sub-brand.

using Yokos up front, yokos sub brand achilles atr sport at rear - damn good tyres, and silent too
