Hello

I am currently using Openweb as my ISP and I am really disappointed with their service. Which isp is the best option in SA for uncapped internet? I have a son who plays a lot of online games and so he requires good ping to other countries and I also have a daughter who downloads a lot. Which isp would be for the best?

Kind Regards

none of the service providers give a clear "acceptable usage policy"
Afrihost have throttled my P2P to 20Kb on a 4mb line... Not really in line with their bragging leaderboard of 700GB downloaded for a single user

Well that's uncapped for you. There are better ISPs though, Namely: Crystal Web and Web Africa.

I wouldn't go uncapped. Rather research the capped market.

You can get 100Gig for around R189 (excluding line rental). Just economise on downloads.
Gaming will be low ping. Torrents any time of the day at full speed.

Uncapped always has a catch or is really capped and you reach the limit before being throttled.

Telkom Internet has been the very worst uncapped so far with extremely poor support and bad torrents.

Yea, MTN backbone... Issues all the time.

For proper capped you will be paying about R300 for 100gigs.

But eh, Your with Openweb, Uncapped from Webafrica will work, and Uncapped from Crystal Web will probably blow your socks off.

Crystal Web uncapped is basically like getting a shave after a month. Smooth as ****ing silk

You tried to find a fault with telkom but you failed :(

Really? Try to phone 10210 and let's see how quick you get help? Or wait, walk into one of Telkom's store. Then phone 10210 and stand in the queue at the same time, please give us your times. Ok, I'll go, 2 weeks ago, phoned 10210 3 times, each time I waited for 20 minutes and NOTHING. I went into a walk in store at Cape Gate 2 weeks ago as well, 30 minutes to stand in the queue. I went to Tygervalley walk in store yesterday, 20 minutes to wait in the queue.

Now, I contacted Crystal Web as well yesterday, in UNDER a minute, I was onto support.

Now, to answer the OP question who required a good ping for her son, Telkom came in with 163 ms according to This Telkom Speed Test. Similarly, Crystal Web UNCAPPED came in at 154 ms according to my own test pasted here: Crystal Web Speed test.
Even MWEB's ping is a lot better than Telkom.

For Telkom use online fault reporting.

all are crap. problem is finding which crap smells the least foul.

For what price?

A lot of Crystal acolytes here, but they leave out the crucial bit. It's the most expensive on the list.

Have you heard of a thing called telkom chat? Yes you chat with an agent if it's too long to wait and anyway he was asking what's the best isp for uncapped Internet LOL I get 9-18ms local ping and 160-190ms EU and BTW 160ms to 200ms on a EU server is more then enough.

Yes I have heard of the online chat, I tried it 3 times already. You wait just as long.
