Deben...
My partner's Radeon packed up... its on the door on warranty, and not sure I want to put myself thru the torture of sending it back to sybaritic... It was a dreadful card to start with for triple monitor... HD5450... *Sigh*

...so considering handing my two cards over (xfx 8800gt & xfx 9800gt), and buying myself a single card, triple monitor solution.

My price range is R3000... I'd go a little over (R4000 would be too much), if the overall performance is worth it... I like Nvidia, but considering some of the specs on the AMD's do look better for the price... just not sure! running everything DVI to HDMI on my rig, so a card with dual dvi's and display port would be better - not in the mood to fork out more for extra adapters...

What do you guys recommend?

Have a look at the Inno3D GTX570, which you should be able to get for R3000 - R3200.

Btw, what is the rest of your system specs? CPU, RAM, motherboard & PSU?

On the Radeon side look at the 6870, 6950 or the 6970 they all will be more than ideal for your setup and have enough ports for 3 monitors.

Nothing nvidia has beats eyefinity when it comes to multi-monitor solutions.

Get a 6970 and be happy.

The MSI Radeon HD6950 TwinFrozr III/OC is about R3 100 and really not a bad card.
Other than that you can get:

Point of View / Inno3D GTX570 for R3 200.
Sapphire HD6950 1Gb for R2 560
Sapphire HD6950 2Gb for R2 790

From there on other brands goes up, but below that you're looking at the GTX560Ti and the HD6870 cards.

You cant recommend a GTX570 as it can only drive two screens.

So the OP basically has to go for either HD6950 or HD6970, whichever his budget allows

Its an i5 650 with 8gigs ram, on a MSI board (I think GD65), too many hard drives in a HAF 932, the two xfx's, Cooler Master 750watter, xfi, 3x Sammy's P2450's

My partner, Q9300 on my old ASUS P5E, 4gigs ram, too many hard drives, waiting for another HAF to arrive, dead HD5450 so running dual screen off the main board... on 3xSammy 2233GW's

Thanks guys for correcting me on the GTX570, because I didn't see the OP wanted to use 3 monitors.

On the connectivty front, if I'm not mistaken
The first two screens can use DVI, the third and fourth must use the displayport. You could also just daisy chain 3 screens to one displayport.

just reading specs... when they say its "3D Vision Ready, means, you need to buy a similar card and bridge it to get the whole triple monitor game play thing... ?

yea, well, I have a display port adapter since that other abomination.... so can use that...

This 6970 looks nice Gigabyte GV-R697OC-2GD Radeon HD6970 16xPCIE 256-bit 2GB GDDR5 w/HDMI + 2DVI + DP but pricy... not sure I want a Gigabyte tho... What's the cost of the Sapphire cards ? I may very well go for one of the 6950's

HD6950 or HD6970.

Brands I know:

#1 Asus 3yr warranty local base local support
#2 Gigabyte 3yr support through distributor (Rectron)
#3,4 Sapphire MSI, 2yr support via distributors
#5 Powercolor 1yr support via distributor (Esquire)

Asus EAH6950 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 Radeon HD6950 16xPCIE 256-bit 2GB GDDR5 w/2DVI + 4DP - R3919 from Sybaritic...

I read somewhere the Gigabyte with the 3 fans overheat quickly due to bad airflow design...
Gigabyte GV-R695OC-1GD Radeon HD6950 16xPCIE 256-bit 1GB GDDR5 w/HDMI + 2DVI + DP- R3134 from Sybaritic

Alright... I'm finally looking at going ahead with this purchase... Called Esquire, DCC, and Pinnacle - none of them have the Asus EAH6970 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 Any Idea who stocks these in DBN? and what they're going for?

Esquire's 6970 for the powercolor and sapphire was R2900 odd ex vat - but have my heart set on the asus! - mean looking thing!

Try Frontosa.

I got that one on a special for like R3300 (inc VAT) at Rebeltech a couple of months ago, but that was a once of bargain that I haven't seen again. Usually that card retails for over R4200 (inc VAT).
