Hi,

I am currently researching the most affordable web hosting that I could use around october (with a new domain name).

I know about the mweb hosting thing, it seems all good, but what does it entail? I learned that on godaddy I will be paying around R550 for 1 year of 10GB space 10x1gb mysql databases, free adwords voucher.

My question is, is there any web hosting that is:

1. Cheaper than godaddy (and may offer similar).
2. A Cheaper / the same (in terms of price) web hosting in South Africa, that comes with a free adwords voucher, with similar plan to godaddy.

Me and my friends are planning to make a site with reviews, pictures (our own), downloads (open source software only which we will want to host on our web hosting space).

Bandwidth must be at least 300GB per month.

Thanks.

Hi ngadao08

Send me your contact details and I will arrange a consultant to contact you to explain to you the products we offer.

Just to explain why godaddy should be avoided; Their hosting servers are on the West coast of the states giving them higher latency and their servers are also just slow in my experience (most likely totally oversold). overselling is the case with a lot of cheap hosting providers, so watch out for cheap.
Afri Host - Had some really shaky service from them
Hetzner - Can not stand their KonsoleH control panel but hosting is fast and service responsive. Hosting in Germany is an option and is fast too.

There are many more options in the local market.

The advantage with hosting in SA is the techies are in the same time-zone as you.

I'd say Hetzner, but then I saw you want at least 300GB a month. For that either Mweb (and unfortunately I've had poor service in the past from Mweb business wrt hosting) with their uncapped bandwidth, or I would have to suggest an international host, which has all the downsides of being international.

Well a Hetzner Germany (hetzner.de) dedicated server works out pretty cheap and comes with 2TB of bandwidth at 100Mb/s, there after they "cap" you to 10Mb/s until you top up.

I'm sold on Hetzner Germany. Their service is great. Products well priced. They're very professional and get things done quickly.

The fact that the MwEB Rep commented here shows something but unfortunately I have had so many people moving from mweb to me all complaining about slow servers and non existent support they take a week just to get the domain transferred

As far as hetzner is concerned they are awesome although I have a dedicated support package with them I cannot compare it to anything else I have experienced I also host with host gator and no complaints there

Yes, but then again you're speaking about Hetzner. They're an outstanding company. They're one of the few international (well, read European and not US) locations I'd suggest/use.
