Which wifi range extender to buy?

That TP Link range extender is good. I have installed 5 in the last 2 months. East to configure and cheap.
Coverage is pretty decent.
If you have a large 5 bedroom house I would suggest getting two of them.

the TL-WA850RE?

does the to extender just work with a tp router? don't think it will work for me. I want to put a cable into the extender and then create an AP for that side of the house.

I bought the Linksys unit this morning. Not much comment was forthcoming on this thread, and some external reviews seemed to suggest it provided some good range.

Bought it before the post from robertwj.

Both units appear to be easy to setup. The real test will be what kind of throughput i get.

On and by the way the Linksys unit is cheaper then Makro ;)

Is the throughput halved when introducing a wireless repeater into a network?

It makes sense that the signal from devices at the far end of the network now has to make two hops to reach the router. The extender first has to receive the signal and then rebroadcast it to the router.

Apparently more expensive extenders with multiple integrated radios do it properly without sacrificing speed.

I have the TP link 150Mbps extender currently running as an AP, working fine. It looks as though the TL-WA850RE can also run as a AP

I have been having a look around and was wondering what you guys would recommend. I need a good Wireless AP.
There is an RJ45 port in my lounge at the moment from the router but I would like to make it wireless down there. The router is too far away but there is a port there ( All the rooms have RJ45 Points ) that I would like to make into a wireless one.

Range extenders don't really work as I have tried them.

Fanks

Ubiquity would work awesome, otherwise Ive installed these in a hotel, bit expensive, but look neat and is transmitting like hell! (You can adjust nearly everything) Its also PoE, so very neat install

Anyone know how easy it is to setup a Rocket AP I think by Ubiquiti?
