Which will use least amount of data

On a iphone looking at apps, use what app would be best in terms of saving data ? Say looking at:

News 24 ap vs pulse news vs mobi site on opara?

And same for

Mybb app vs flipboard vs pulse news vs mobi site on opera?

I do not know for sure, but IIRC, using Opera Mini compresses data on a server first and then sends you the compressed version (almost like an image I think) which in theory greatly reduces bandwidth and increases speed. So I reckon using the mobi sites via Opera will consume the least amount of bandwidth.

That being said, using the News24, Flipboard , Tapatalk/MyBB etc apps GREATLY improves the experience and they really don't use that much bandwidth at all.

Of these Flipboard will probably use the most as it seems to download all the content of all the things you've added to it regardless of whether you open them or not (it feels like it is anyway).

I prefer using tapatalk for forums and dont think it chowd that much data..

But my wifie just moved from BB to a 4s and bit scared of data usage so wana set her up with apps that will minimize data usage

I don't think Tapatalk uses that much data either and I'm guessing News24 is the same... Can't comment on mobi sites 'tho 'cos, well, using apps is just so much easier. You might want to look at an app like Data Usage http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/data-usage/id386950560?mt=8 It tracks 3G, Edge, GPRS and Wi-Fi usage on your device... Just remember to run the app when you turn the phone off and on.
