Which wireless router with strong signal strength

So my gf just got herself a new laptop and has now asked me to set her up with Internet.

I'm looking to get her a wireless router which has the strongest signal in order for it to reach her room.

The current router is a netgear but the antenna is broken so I need to replace the router.

Any suggestions on which router to get her?

Having a router with a strong signal won't help much if the laptop has a weak signal - as you can see from this thread: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ess-AP...should-have-bought-a-handgun-instead

If the laptop supports wireless N (802.11n), then make sure that you get a wireless N router, because the range is supposed to be better with 802.11n.

If your existing ADSL modem works 100%, then you can just get a cheap wireless AP, that you connect to your existing ADSL modem with a LAN cable. It works best if you can place the WiFi AP near the center of the house.

If you need to replace your existing ADSL modem, then look at the D-Link DSL-2750U and TP-Link W8960N - both of which you can get for under R620, with the D-Link one costing slightly more.
 
Definitely if your current ADSL router works fine otherwise then a wireless access point is your better option.
 
Well the current router isn't ok, the wireless antenna is broken so the laptop doesn't pickup the signal, therefore I need a new router. Question is, which router has good wireless signal.

But the wired PCs connect to the internet fine?

If so just turn off the wireless and buy a wireless AP for the wireless part. Connect it to the old router with a cable. Locate the AP centrally in the house.

All done, as suggested earlier.

No, it's not a screw on antenna, the antenna accidentally got pulled out of its place. I tried putting it back in, but there was a wire inside and I didn't know where to put it. Not gonna bother trying to fix it. I'd rather get a new router and not a wireless AP. The gf will refuse having a cable run through her house. Simplest option is to just replace the broken router with a wireless router. For R700 it's not such a big deal.

I'd agree on going the AP route, if your ADSL router is down the one end of the premises you can just add the AP in a more centralised position to get good coverage over the entire area.
