LOL plastic door protection was a thing of the previous century for German and most other manufacturers.
Most of the world has moved on.

You misunderstand. When you open all those doors above just a touch too much in a narrow garage it bumps the wall on the painted part.

Those strips you posted are for protection from other people banging into your door.

Always smile to myself looking at all the extra cladding, rubber and noise insulation on my car thinking about these okes who can’t stop talking about ze Germans knowing they’ve never taken a proper look at these modern Chinese never mind actually driven one.

My door closing “klunk” is more German than any German car I’ve ever driven and I’ve been in some pretty damn fancy ones.

Nope.
Cars are different heights, car doors are different shapes. Some are flat, some are bended/round. Some are protruding more on top than the bottom.
It is impossible to place those strips to protect against other car doors.
They were made for straight flat walls.
My 2L TDI Caddy have them, they only work on flat doors, not other cars.

Once again you misunderstand.

There are two things going on here. Firstly, the Jolion door is designed to have the bottom plastic piece make contact with the wall, not the painted part of the door.

Secondly the protection strips go on the garage wall, not on the car door.

Once again you fail to understand.
You claimed your door was designed that a plastic strip touch the wall and not the paint.
I showed you thats a thing from the previous century and showed you pictures from old cars with the plastic strips on doors.
Then you claimed they are for protection against other doors.
Then I explained that is not true as doors are different shapes and heights, so those strips on the doors(in the pictures I showed you) are to protect against walls. Just as you claimed Germans have not thought about it.
Now you come with strips on walls that I never mentioned.

The rental we moved into has two big polystyrene pieces screwed to the walls each side of the front doors. Wonder what the door protectors look like.

Another tip is to hang a ball from the ceiling. When it touches glass you stop. This helps if your garage is not very wide or deep.
 
Fuel consumption update:

I was out and about this morning. I drove 77km, a mixture of city and about 40km open road sections (80kmh and 100kmh), with a bit of overtaking on the open road. And three or four stops along the route. Fuel consumption was 7.3l/100km. That's really decent if you ask me.

Thanks, that is a great idea, it’s not an unsightly rubber moulding in the middle of the door but still serves a similar purpose.

There seems to be a bunch of confusion on the thread - not necessarily you, but in general. So to clarify for all - I didn't apply anything to the vehicle itself. The Haval engineers desgined the door in a clever way so that the plastic strip along the bottom of the door serves as a wall protector (obviously not against other car doors).

And then I applied the strips to my garage wall to protect the door from scratching when opened without sufficient care.

Nothing too much to report as yet. I've posted some fuel consumption numbers above. School only started this week so I'll be able to get a better idea of the school run numbers for the days I do the school run by next week.

I'm super happy this far - nothing to complain about. There are a couple of little things that I'd like (such as a physical fan speed knob) but nothing major at all. Also, I can't send a whatsapp voicenote on Android Auto which is pretty stupid. I can only dictate a message which is then transcribed, but a voice note option would've been better.
