Hello People,

I am looking to purchase Microsoft XP but not sure which version to get.

I want to use it for reloading the operating system on laptops that I want to resell. The key I would use is the key on the certificate of authenticity under the laptops (each laptop has its own key). The version I have does not accept multiple keys for multiple machines.

Any help will be appreciated?

It's not quite that simple, the DSP / Retail version will most prob not execpt the OEM key, then there is SP1 Vs. SP2 the keys will differ...

Thanks for the replies, All the laptops have SP2 and you are correct, the Retail Version will not accept any other key other than the key it comes with. Is there an OEM Version of the software I can purchase? any1 know where?

The only way to get the OEM version is to use the restore disk that came with the Laptop, otherwise you will have to get one from the Vendor.

If u gonna repurchase it again rather buy a copy of Vista - you have rights to use the previous version of windows xp (appropriate version - ie. professional, home etc)

That way if Vista ever sorts itself out at least you don't have to buy Vista again.

Anybody want to copy their OEM disc for me? I am not asking for the key, will use the original (under laptop) product key.

I've already got oem vista but the laptops have win xp licenses and I do not want to load vista as it will be an illicit install.

Where are you? I am in Jeffreys Bay, if you're close by I can let you have copies of XP Home and Pro OEM SP1, SP2 and SP2c. Note an SP2c COA will not work with earlier OEM CDs you have to use the SP2c CD.

Win xp pro has better support for dual-core cpu tha xp home
