So I need some help with a build. Will be buying this in the next few days. Budget 15k.

Win 7 Pro 64bit (do I need Ultimate)
I7 2600k
Coolermaster Plus 212 Cooler
Gigabyte P67A-UD3R
Seagate 1TB 6Gb/s 16Mb
OCZ 120GB Vertex 3 Series SSD
Corsair Dominator GT 4GB DDR3 2000
Evga GTX 570 320bit Superclocked
Corsair TX650 Power

Vertex 3 ETA is in a couple days. Have existing chassis. Is this a decent build? Thanks!

Awesome build. I'd rather get a CPU closed loop like the H70 etc as I assume you want to OC and thats why you went with the k and 2000Mhz RAM?
Have you looked at the Corsair ax 750w PSU?
Also to lazy to look now, but is there a big difference between the Gainward Golden sample goes like hell edition (evetech has them) and the EVGA superoverclocked in terms of cooler ,clock and price range?

BTW the title means waiting for Archer to compile a reference chart for PC builds, it does not mean Pada cannot provide valuable input :-)
 
Also, I have a CM V8 cooler. It has socket 775 and 1366 brackets in the box. Will either of these brackets fit onto socket 1155?

Go for Professional. All Ultimate gives is Bitlocker and some language features. All the media and game features you'll need are in the Pro version.
 
Rudi I found the bracket at Sybaritic for R82. Although no mention is made for socket 1155 support. Where did you see this being compatible?

The v6 GT is quite good especially when you take into account price/performance. Best would be to check out reviews and make up your mind. Also don't forget to take into account dimensions of the cooler and your case.

The 650w will be more than enough and is awesome. The 750 is just in another league (same with pricing) and should accoumodate just about any upgrade *cough* sli 570's :p you know you wanna :D

But the 650 is a good choice.
 
Ok, if I use the CM V8 cooler, and considering the type of ram above, will I get 4.5GHz stable on this system? I just don't know if the V8 is up to it.

You must make sure that the height of your ram does not interfere with the cooler. You've only got limited space and sometimes the GT's impede the placement of a cooler cause they big.
I haven't over clocked the new i's but as far as I understand you keep the bus(BLCK) the same and just change the multiplier. So you really don't need such fast ram.

But you must do more research on this.
 
Yeah BLCK is locked on new CPUs, except the K series. Only way to overclock is to set the multipliers...

That is IIRC...
 
Yeah, you can OC the BCLK on K processors, but only to about 107mhz max. All the overclocking is really done through CPU multiplier, or Turbo multipliers, and unlike previous generation OC'ing you can use idle clock states and power management while overclocking without too many problems.

Memory is at set multipliers: 1333/1600/1866/2133 (and probably 1066 too lazy to check), and your CPU multiplier doesn't affect this. Not sure about the BCLK, but I doubt that can be OC'ed enough to have an effect and anyway I would just leave BCLK alone.
