Whisk(e)y Lovers thread(II)

@MightyQuin you weren't happy with the Cask Strength but how did you find the Glenallachie 12/15? I notice the one on the table.

Smokehead Twisted Stout looks divine!

The Smokehead was good...as always, but needed that 46% ABV or above.

I cannot recall the Glenallachie...so that should probably say it all.

You get average Bourbon...you get good Bourbon and then you get exceptional Bourbon. These are not just exceptional... they also have somewhat of a unicorn status outside of not just the US, but outside of Texas.

I have looked and hunted and been outbid on auctions...and there they were...on a local site being sold as part of a private collection.

My lucky day.

Lovely whiskey - still one of my favourite distillery tours. The one I shared with you was a release from the same series as the bottle on the left above.

I still want a bottle of Cowboy.

I mate of mine has the Cowboy...unopened. We plan to get together in the new year and open the 2 Garrison's together.

PS.

I was bidding on it...in case you're interested?

turns out this was a pretty good deal (imo of course), finished the last one yesterday

of the 12 whiskies I was only familiar with 1 previously (Teeling Small Batch), so 11 new things to taste
quality is quite ok, some decent, some very average that I wouldn't need to taste again, and 1 that probably wasn't the best intro to aussie whisky ... until proven otherwise I'm going to think all aussie whisky is shyte :X3:

They do make excellent stuff, but WAY out of anybody's price range.

The Starward Solera is really good...but is all subjective of course. Your palate does not enjoy that style.

Bakery Hill and Sullivan's Cove are exceptional stuff.
