That history gets rewritten this fall, as Waterford’s Peated: Fenniscourt 1.1 (50 percent ABV, 38.4 PPM) and Peated: Ballybannon 1.1 (50 percent ABV, 47 PPM) hit retail shelves in October, with 1,000 bottles of each available in the U.S. amid a larger global release.

This Waterford Micro Cuvee Pique-Nique is awesome and does what it says...

On the nose: strawberries and cream...pears...cut grass and fresh hay.

On the palate: Surprisingly spicy with dark chocolate and even some ginger.

So glad I finally got hold of this one.

I also opened it's Winter "version:...

This one is very subdued and I reckon a few weeks may help to open it up in the bottle.

Will pour a dram today and let it sit in the glass for an hour or so too.

Picked up some dried fruits on the nose...and again spiciness on the palate, but it needs time I reckon.

What can I say? This is mindblowingly good....blueberries smothered in honey and vanilla and toasted nuts.

So incredibly smooth, not a drop of water needed.

Will add a few drops when I re-visit though, to see what effect it has. Probably this evening, 'cos I cannot wait to get back to this one.

My first every foray into the world of EC...and I definitely decided to dive into the deep end.

So much bright fruit, supported by the AVB...strawberries and even some cherries. Spiciness from the char of the barrel.

Heads up for anyone interested. Takealot have a decent little promotion on at the moment for 2 x Three Ships 5 y.o. for R350. Normally R209 in store these days or R215 at Takealot, so a decent saving if you buy a few. I bought 6 so saving a bit over R200.
