Whisk(e)y Lovers thread(II)

I think this is just new pricing given by the importer. Saw Old Pulteney 18 jump from 2300 to 2999 too. Not entirely sure if the 24 is the same reason but the 18yo definitely is.
Dram discovery is probably old stuff so was probably more marked up then this is compared to RRP at the time.
What's silly is that stock hadn't moved at all and was priced at R1499, I know because I was eyeing a bottle as I really like Ancnoc 18.
For those who don't know it's Liquor City Claremont. Honestly name the retailer, it helps those in the community. BTW I think mothercity liquor is far far worse as far as these pricing practices go.
Agree, MCL pricing is crazy. Don't even look at any so called "specials" anymore. But also is the way the more premium stuff is going I suppose. Seems to jump in price every other month.

Also feel the distributors should step in more, see more and more retailers selling the limited bottles at secondary market prices. This shouldn't be allowed, a retailer selling Springbank 10 at ~R2500 or more is madness

That seems to be the way. And when they get on the market for R1250-R1400 its just blind luck if you get one. There we a few foing around a month or so ago from whisky brother but that lasted for minutes. R2500 is more than what the 15 should he selling for

Yes, Whiskybrother and few others do sell at that price and yes they sell out quickly, but there are others that will sell directly at secondary market prices

Some solid prices on Perifly for Deanston and Ledaig. Picked up the Ledaig 18 for R1999. Other sellers in the market have it R4000 at the moment. The 10 years are sub R1000.

30-year-old Irish whiskey sells for record-breaking $2.8 million

A rare bottle of whiskey — and all the luxury items that come with it — is now the most expensive ever sold.

The extremely rare bottle of The Emerald Isle was sold at auction to American whiskey collector Mike Daley for $2.8 million, beating out the previous record-setter by $100,000.

I find the classification of this sale as that of the most expensive Whisky, a bit hard to swallow.

All the extra bells and whistles really jacked up that price. I mean a Faberge egg ffs !!

Little Bargain indeed.

I must be the only one that does not like Eagle Rare.
It smells like car polish

But, still where is that? I know a few that would love some.
Now next time guess what Im going to smell when I drink it- Tops In germiston. Not sure of the stores name- my brother picked it up for me. He took both - so that ship has sailed. But these little hamlet stores have bargains sometimes

Well done. The ER is very difficult to find locally anymore.

The SR is such a delicious budget Rye
