Whisk(e)y Lovers thread(II)

Anyone managed to log in to the Three Ships Master's Collection sale? I can't log in, I can't reset password, the timer on the website is wrong, nothing works.

I re-registered and now I can log in. Sheez....

What a joke, mine still says 1hr till the sale

So after reserving my bottle, it gives a 5 minute timer, but everything is broken and it is impossible to checkout.

After 5 minutes I reserved again, but this time the whole thing is buggered and doesn't even show the bottle in my cart anymore.

And if you click on another bottle it restarts your 5 minute timeout . What a sh*t show

I wonder which BEE company they got to handle the website this time.

I had to refresh to get my "reserved" bottle in the cart for checkout to work, but it seems like it would work in theory

not sure I want to drop R1,200 on it though, will wait for it to hit the liquor shop shelves

So after 13 minutes the checkout button became active and then it took another 4 minutes for the checkout page to allow me to pay.

What a joke. It better taste good

Now that I'm further along my whisky journey, going back through the last thread and this one is one helluva wild ride of knowledge dropping, unicorn bottles, admiration and envy.

Seeing the prices of some bottles even < 2 years ago compared to now makes me want to sob. I mean my journey officially started somewhere in 2021 with a Redbreast 12 which was R600 odd bucks and now that's R1.4k. I think in March most people took the opportunity to bump prices a further 15-20% due to the couple bucks additional sin tax. Anyway, enough price ranting from my side.

Would love to see what everyone is sipping now.

Even more depressing is looking at old Makro Catalogues.

One day only have the latest Three Ships special release, the 13 year old Cape Ruby finish for R999, instead of the usual R1200.

And funny enough, I was at a Bains and Three Ships tasting with Andy Watts last night and this was sampled. After the release balls up I never went and got one and had planned to today, and then this showed up in my inbox
