If you like Irish, I would recommend Redbreast 12y for under 2k, fantastic dram in my opinion.

Wildly over-priced for what you get. Two years ago this was going for R750 (which even then was on the high side of what it was worth)

Recommendations?
Depends on what you are looking to spend and what you like. My personal choices on the non-peated side are:
R500 - Tamnavulin Double Cask
R750 - Glenmorangie Lasanta
R1,100 - Glenfiddich 15
R1,400 - Bruichladdich Classic Laddie
And on the peaty side:
R1,000 - Laphroaig Quarter Cask (more heavily peated) or Bowmore 15 (more lightly peated)
R1,800 - Lagavulin 16 (king of whiskies in my opinion)
Prices are estimates as they can range quite a bit depending on where you buy.
yes, I recommended it purely for impact/reputation to normies
Tamnavulin is definitely a good recommendation vs price
I've been enjoying finding good well-below-R1000 single malts

The price increases are insane, if you wanted something like Macallan 12 I'd suggest Glendronach 12, it's just better. Benriach 12 is a really good whisky and also much better than Macallan 12. That said most people know Macallan as a brand.
Agree, Benriach 12 is probably the best value for what you get and still only just over R500Benriach 12.
