A number of prominent black persons have spoken up regarding the misbehavior of the current regime.
They're almost uniformly labeled "Un-African".
If thats not used then they're accused of being "disrespectful" of the leader/elder/chief etc.
I notice that those who make such accusations are seldom very respectful themselves.
I have personally critised Thabo's behavour in public forum and personally been accused of racism by his lapdog in the ministry Essop Pahad.

I was always taught that respect was earned not given.
You really expect a leader/elder/chief etc, to actually show respect??

These threads just go down the same old boring path, the predictable responses. I do not agree with everything she said but it is a fact that we whites are sometimes apathetic and just put up with a lot of nonsense. Why did more of us not stand up against the particularly bad things that happened during the apartheid era? We accepted authority to easily. As an example I did my military service against my better judgement. I did not want to upset my family or be at odds with the authorities. So what if we are callled racist when we complain, show the middle finger and complain WHERE JUSTIFIED. The problem with us is that many people just complain to make a political point and not based on a particular issue. If you look for negatives all the time, that is what you will find. Try to look for the positives as well and you may be surprised how many there are.
It is commonly known that black groups disquality themselves from being able to be racists, because racism requires power/opression, which they claim they don't have. I recall hearing / reading the ANCYL using this card. Nevertheless, there are many website sources stating and discussing the main statement, here are a few:

The problem is with people critisizing black people (in general) instead of the government or specific decisions/inaction. Statements like "Black people are not running the country efficiently" will be taken as racist, cause it is.
You can't blame all black people for government's mistakes any more than you can blame all white people for the apartheid government's atrocities.
If you want to have some credibility don't generalise and critisize behaviour and not the person.

Certainly, however rarely is that the critism, and it's disingenius to suggest it.
More often that not the critism is performance based.
I'm thinking specificlly in areas of Health, education, telecommunications & Home affairs.
The ministers have not been critised because of their hues, the critism has been based on their performance.
The respond to that critism is usually.....Colonisalism, Apartheid, WHITE RACIESTS.
Never ever does the ANC address the issues, they always address the critic.

I agree, what we need then are not only formal channels for criticism/suggestions but a body that will ensure the evaluation of such and ensure that those issues are addressed and that there's feedback.
The problem is that there are such channels and bodies
As for the statements in bold i do not totally agree with you. With formal criticism yes, it is always perfomance based. But with informal criticism it is often accompanied by rediculous and racist comments, as with the ones that accompanied the xenophobic attacks.
Does Martin Luther King Jr. come to mind?

Its alright for a non-white to call a white a white , but when a white calls a non-white a non-white the race card gets pulled out. EVERYTIME.

Nowhere in public forum has the race of the encumbant incompetant ministers ever been raised.
Their responses are consistantly racist, "Whites" this, and "colonialists" that.
Informal criticism on the other hand is not by definition part of the public debate. Clearly you're hanging out with the wrong sort of informal folks.
