For sure, when it is down flat you are correct. What is being discussed is when you "tilt" it - as in it raises an inch or two from the "hinge" point at the front and rising towards the back.

For sure, when it is down flat you are correct. What is being discussed is when you "tilt" it - as in it raises an inch or two from the "hinge" point at the front and rising towards the back.
Ok, I think there is a bit of a misunderstanding of what a sunroof fully entails.
Assuming everything is closed, there is a smallish glass rectangle, in the roof, over the front seats of the car. Underneath this is a cover that slides backwards and forwards.
The glass can either be made to slide (in a horizontal manner) partially or fully back to open this rectangular hole in the roof. Or it can just be tilted so the rear of it raises an inch or two - sort of how a boot spoiler would look; just much longer.
The cover underneath it can be used to protect yourself even if the glass is fully or partially open. Your choice as to how much you open the this cover as well. And same as if you just tilt the glass.

what is being discussed is "who actually uses their sunroof" - not it's tilt function.
it's only you obsessing about the tilt
It's handy for smoking in the car at highway speed (tilt function). Much less wind noise than cracking a window open.
Other than that I only generally open it if the car's been standing in the sun for a while to help get the hot air out.

Umm - that (the tilt) is the main reason for a sunroof in a car dude.

It's an opinion, there's no right and wrong about it.
I don't like them because the noise irritates me. I don't need to prove anything, because regardless the noise will still irritate me. Whether I'm sensitive or it's the car, irrelevant as for me personally it doesn't work.
From recent memory almost new BMW 320i, last gen Mercedes C class, last gen Audi RS4, new Scirocco R, VW Tiguan, Audi Q3, Lexus GS, older Audi A6, Ford Ecosport, Ford Fiesta, Volvo some or other station wagon, Golf 4 GTI, Volvo C30.
Sure a few more but that will do it for variety. All with sunroofs none of which changed my mind to how noisy they are. Those are cars I've driven myself, probably another fifty I've been in with other people.
As you well know I've changed helmets for similar reasons.
Also quite possible that you are deaf so it doesn't bother you.

No tilt function on the newer cars that half the roof is the sunroof glass
There is a difference between a panoramic roof and a sunroof.

Not in the new polo. Looks like a normal sunroof on the inside, and a panoramic one on the outside. Still no tilt. Fully open, closed or anywhere in between.
Were you posting this just as an opinion? Seemed otherwise to me. And it is not irrelevant as to whether you are only "personally" affected by this - because that is not what you stated.
But let me get to grips with this - from "recent" memory you have driven 13 different cars that had sunroofs (plus a few more). How so? From your post history you had a Corsa and your Gti. Plus your bikes.
Then you have been in another fifty cars with sunroofs driven by other people? Eish. I am trying to come to terms with the odds. Seeing as most cars do not have sunroofs; if you extrapolate on a modest factor of say 1:4 you have driven in 200 different cars with other drivers? I will restrain myself on commenting on the obvious..
And what have helmets got to do with this?
The chirp as to me being possibly deaf is a bit weak though. My offer to you to come have a drive with me still stands. Why are you being bashfull about this?
Ok, assuming you are correct, what has this one model got to do with every other car with a "normal" sunroof?

My last 3 cars have had a sunroof. In fact it's one of the prerequisites when I give a salesman the required spec for my next model. Love it and can't be without it.

Who needs a sunroof? If it's hot just use aircon, far more civilised (and it works better at cooling the car down).

Let me give this a go, not sure why but was worried I had to have the cover open if the sunroof was open.
Give this sunroof thing one last hoorah for summer and then prety much give up until winter where maybe it works better for me.
