Down here in the LA Lucia suburb of Durban our sidewalks and verges have been dug up for fibre. Massive rollout with every street in the suburb being installed. The company doing it gave us a letter when they started that listed the company name as edge telecom. Google them and they don't seem to exist. They have no website. None of the major isp's seem to offer connectivity through them. And they install like a bunch of idiots.

In my case they dug up my driveway 4 times. 1 came and dug the trench then filled it in again. 2 dug up the trench again 4 days later and put in the cable. 3 a week later dug up the trench again to install branches to the boundary wall and retarred driveway. 4 a week later dug up the new tar and retarred as they forgot the gravel last time.

Throughout that process I could not get any of the workers or supervisors to tell me who the company actually is. Still haven't got a clue. Does anyone know who they are?

Morning. I was told by one of the supervisors, that they are contracting for Vodacom. Vodacom never confirmed or denied. Have been trying to get more info too, Even VOX did a search for them, but they are not registered under this name.
The Letter stated, they a licensed ECN. I did a search on the data base, could also not find them.

I am not too convinced about them. We will have to see, what happens down the line. Work is shoddy. I feel your pain.

Good Afternoon All

Please could I ask that you get hold of me as I am here to assist with all queries and provide solutions immediately.

Once again, on behalf of Edge-Tel and the contractors that were on site, I apologise for the inconvenience caused and assure you that all problems will have my personal attention.

Kind regards

Installation of Edge Equiptment

Our Body Corporate in Glenwood has just been asked to approve / complete / sign a "GRANT OF RIGHTS AGREEMENT RELATING TO COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE".

What do these guys actually install is it a cell tower or is it some sort of base station?

Kind Regards

They install Fibre and then handover the network to either DFA or Vodacom so far as I know.

And want 12 years exclusivity. You're better off contacting DFA (SA Digital Villages) directly.

Depends on the agreement. Our complex doesn't have an exclusivity agreement with Edge unlike the SADV offer.

Depends on the contract , most cases if your complex end up with vodacom then you might be stuck with them for mentioned years

Sadv, not dfa, and we buy the networks, they don't hand them over.
Also, not just us, several providers are buying networks in this manner.

Please send me your details I'd like to see this so called offer from sadv that demands exclusivity. We have no such clause.

This company Edge Telecoms does have a website with an 012 office number and an 087 call center number, however both just rings and rings, nobody picking up. Wonder if they are still in business

we have been waiting since october 2017 for your installation to be completed ... its not July 2018 ... and we are still battling to get a simple answer from your people

Good luck with these guys. It took my complex a year to go live and that's after I pushed them everyday as a trustee.

My complex only got done in June. They do a good job with the installation. But it just takes time though.
