I'm looking for a Pinnacle Systems ShowCenter 200 - and have been searching online. However, most these places will only order it for me in a week or 2 due to the festive season.

Are there any retailers (even Incredible Connection!) that'll be able to sell this to me?

Hi Dolby

You may have this link already http://www.take2.co.za/product.php?id=596322
they are the only local source I have found (plus I have an account with them).

I am also considering it, but I am swaying towards one with built in DVD.

But again I can't find a local dealer and the distributers do not intend to bring it in :(

This forum may help http://techies.co.za/phpBB2/index.php?c=20

You may also like this link, it overcomes a lot of issues on the backend if you don't have XP Media Center edition.

Even though I don't own one (hope to though), I like the Hauppauge MVP media streamer (http://www.take2.co.za/product.php?id=532171) for its low price and the fact that its software is opensource. It is however not wireless, something I prefer, wi-fi signals can fluctuate which is bad for bandwith intensive applications like video streaming.

To stream mp3 I use the Netgear MP101 (with wi-fi) which (contrary to some web reviews) has been extremely stable in conjunction with Twonkyvision mediaserver software on a dedicated pc server. The reason I went with the MP101 was for its VERY nice onboard display which doesn't require your TV to be switched on to see what song is playing.

caroper ... I'm sorta swaying that way as well. I know the original D-Link 320 was slow (so I heard) and also cost more than the Pinnacle. It was R2400 I think. The D-Link with the DVD player probably retails at R3000 or so?

Rectron won't sell to me, eh? I need to be a dealer? And I bet there is no stock?

There is no need for mce (or even an alternative upnp software) to run most of these devices with basic functionality. For ALL xp users, microsoft offers windows media connect, a free download which turns an xp machine into a upnp server of sorts, as long as the client supports upnp then all will be well

Can you PM to me too please :)
and add one of the Pinnacle PVR cards as well, I like the option of controling the TV Card via the same remote.

Would you be able to import the D-Link MediaLounge™ DSM-320RD ?

@werner tversity overcomes the ropriatary issuse of both the front and backend so that you can use formats and internet streams not nativly supported. thanks for the heads up though. :)

Cheers
