Which ADSL provider would you recommend in looking at:

1. Speed
2. Bandwidth (To download games and software)
3. Cost per month

I am looking for an overall host.

We currently pay R79 for 1GB to Telscum

Is there a better option or not really?

I am looking for an overall host.

Does that mean you want line rental included in the monthly price?

If not, there's Afrihost at R29/gig. Speed depends on your line. It's shaped so browsing/mail will take preference over p2p etc.

Also, have a look at the DoBroadband packages. They include line rental and are very reasonable but restricting. If you want 5gigs, you have to take a 4meg line; if you want 3gigs, you have to take a 384line. I'm not 100% sure if I quoted the packages correctly- check out their website

How much do you want to download?
and how much do you want to pay?

If you're looking for a per gig solution then afrihost is for you, if you want uncapped.... that's a different story.

get uncapped. takes the stress out of counting and topping up.

These research questions are getting interesting.

If you intend using less than 7GB a month:

- Afrihost at R29 per GB is the best option.

If you intend using more than 7GB a month:

- I don't know.

Check out www.nexus.co.za (Sorry i'm a bit lazy today :P ). I have been with these guys for the last 4 / 5 years. I have never had one days problem with them.

yep, currently the cheapest international per gB they sport.
as for uncapped. R999 for a throttled, or R2699 for an all-day 4meg account per month is crazy imo. actually, by the 3rd or so month you're just throwing money away because you'll run out of time or disk space going thru more than 250 gig in 30 days.
while we're on about costs, there's still the matters of line rentals to add, but i've typed enough now -someone else can explain further... ;)
