Who has their DSTV decoder connected to an HTPC?

Does anyone have their decoder connected to an HTPC, for like a DIY PVR? I know MediaPortal supports Live TV recording, although I'm using XBMC. Had a look at HDMI In PCI-X cards a while back, but apparantly there were some issues with the secure connection.

So if you did it, how?
 
Note : Wanna use HDMI... want to go 1080 In, so composite/RCA in not an option.
 
I think the correct way to go about this would be not to use XBMC directly, but instead MythTV which will then do the recording and scheduling ect, and then to watch the recorded shows with XBMC. I recall there being a plugin to control MythTV a bit via a XBMC plugin, but since I have never needed this I haven't actually attempted to setup MythTV.
 
Your DStv decoder's HDCP (content protection), will not allow it to send an HDMi picture to a recording device...
 
Would I get at least 720p if I used YPbPr In? Being analog, it shouldn't be content protected right?
 
I've got my (admittedly very old) D9910 decoder hooked up via RCA to my Hauppauge TV card in my HTPC. Works like a dream. Much faster than a PVR and I get all my TV and series on the same box. (I use Windows Media Centre, with MediaBrowser as my frontend for movies/series/pandora/etc)
As you mention, only downside is that all recordings are in SD.
I know fxit-man went through the process of setting up an HTPC for HD a little earlier this year, I'll see if I can find the thread.
Also have a read on the forums here, there are some guys who have discussed this sort of thing there.

The HDMI port uses copy protection, as mentioned before. You need to strip this with something like HDFury first, then you can capture it with a HD TV tuner.
