Most OEM radios only have the vehicle manufacturers logo on, I often wonder which manufacturers supply the head unit and speakers on vehicles. I have had a Nissan with Clarion speakers, an Audi with Blaupunkt speakers etc. Is there a list out there? Any way to find out?

worst is, some products , like telefunken , does not exist, someone put the sticker on the product.

I dont thing car people use the same people. They look for a good deal. Its like no name brands.

No. There are quite a few different suppliers, even in the same vehicle model range. I know VW primarily used Grundig for their earlier radios and Blaupunkt for the newer units. Mercedes-Benz used Becker a while ago; not too sure what they use now.

In recent years car audio systems have been a big selling point with cars...

the best kept secret is the Dynaudio sound system you can get with the Volvo S40/V50 (R10k option) , C30 (R10k option) and C70 (standard).....I think it was voted third best car audio system a year or two ago behind the Lexus' LS430 Mark Levinson (2nd) and the Audi A8 Bang & Oelofson (1st)...considering that I myself own a set of R30k bookshelf Dynaudio's, I can just imagine how it must sound in a car...

We were discussing which options you couldn't live without on your next car and my choice was my Dynaudio : absolutley love it!

My dads 1996 A4 had Nokia speakers ... weird

Those new integrated head units really suck, the reception is pathetic! My old Grundig with three reception sensitivity levels and no antenna kicks but :D

My SO's Merc has a Merc OEM CD changer made by Alpine :) I think the Audio 20 head unit is also contracted to Alpine.
