Who owns what...

Could we come up with a thread with a sticky that gives detail of who owns what in the telecoms sector... i.e. how much of Telkom is owned by governement... Does government really own Sentech as my interptetation goes on their website: "Sentech now operates as a commercial state owned enterprise with its own board of directors."...
This would be good to know so we can see who is doing us in when we see articles like the Sentech ad being pulled because of poor ethics, etc.

Not sure of the best format... possibly (for e.g.)
Vodacom:
- 51% Telkom
- x% so and so

Telkom:
- x% government
- x% so and so

Sentech:
etc. etc.

And / Or...
Government owns:
x% Sentech
x% Telkom
x% Vodacom

Not a bad idea, but what would it really achieve? It's good to know that Telkommandant are mostly owned by government, but how can one use this info for the forces of good?

It helps to channel your frustration at the right people and to see the hidden motives behind decisions - especially those made by our tele minister et al. Also, there are some of us who will out of principal avoid any telkom product (one that enriches Telkom and it's shareholders) - I use MTN and not Vodacom, etc. The general public is ignorant of these facts and often have no idea why government is dragging it's heels on the sno, etc. It's all good IMHO

You'll end holding some poor admin clerk hostage with a toy gun... the only safe place to channel your frustrations are to your shrink.

Ministers are far too important and busy to attend to trivial matters raised by citizens.

Personally I agree with EdRobbinson above.......I don't use Vodacom specifically cause it is owned by Telkom. I would also boycott others in a similar way

I think that it is 50% Vodaphone & 50% Telkom, although Telkom will claim to have the larger 50%
