Who to trust? Dsl speed...

So, I am about to move into my new house so thought I would do some enquiries as to what adsl speed is available in my area.

So using my new phone number for the house:

Telkoms DSL Checker says 1MB.
Broadbandstats.co.za says 10MB.
Telkom Call Center says 512K. (and then they said something confusing like I can go with 4Meg but I wont get 4 meg speeds during peak hours- which made zero sence to me. Either it syncs at 4MB or it doesnt...)

WHO DO I BELIEVE?!

Telkoms DSL Checker, I rate. I think it takes things like distance from exchange into the equation, but I'm pulling that right out my ***.

La Lucia - 031572
The 572 exchange was supposedly one of the first in Durban with 10meg support so surprised that my new place doesn't support higher speeds. It's a big estate with some 400+ houses and it's relatively new...

I stay less than 1km from the la lucia exchange but i'm on the durban north exchange which is much further, also says 1mb on the DSL checker.

You should get 4 meg there but all depends on the distance from the exchange , and if there is a umc there .

The La lucia exchange is by the La lucia mall opposite the of ramp from the freeway .

Wow that's pretty far from me. I'm on the ridge on umhlanga rocks dr but I think I'm on Durban north exchange as opposed to la Lucia exchange.

Yea, i'm right by the spar off umhlanga rocks dr. From what i could see the exchange is near umgeni river, which is a lot further than la lucia.
