Who wears spectacles?

Getting my first pair of glasses in a day or two.

It's going to be fantastic to be able to see properly, that's all I can say.

So, how exclusive is this club?
 
Me.

I used to have contacts, but they gave my eyes so much irritation (I had to go on Quarterzone for it :o) that it just wasn't worth it anymore - not too mention that contacts are more expensive than glasses overall.

I like my glasses though - it gives me an intellectual look :p

The club is not so exclusive anymore. The amount of people who wear glasses or contacts are increasing by quite a bit.

all i can recommend is get killer frames. It makes a massive difference, especialyl if you are wearing them permanently. I prefer oakley frames, they seem to last longer, stay on a bit tighter and are not too pricey compared to some of the other brands out there
 
+1 on the oakley's had a few pairs over the last few years and they are the best.
Take your time finding a pair that suits you because you will be wearing them a lot.

Anybody so myopic they can't see their hand right in front of their face clearly?
 
only when I read fine print.

but now I know also to wear them when I'm next at a gay cafe! actually, or not.............................
 
Tried to get contacts and utterly failed at getting them on.

Got a nice pair of glasses now with a Rayban frame and transition lenses.
 
+1 on the decent frame!!

Working in a heavily ariconed (is that a real word???) building forced me to move away from contacts.
 
i look like clark kent because i wear glasses but when i take them off at night my wife calls me superman.
 
I'm suppose to but don't, I spent more time cleaning my glasses then actually wearing them. For some reason my eyes started to pain while writing this.
 
I wear spectacles. Have done so for about 10 years now. On my 3rd set.

I tried contacts for a while but I need a weighted contact lens in my left eye because it has quite a nasty astigmatism. I could never find a contact lens that could sit properly in the left eye and my vision was always blurred causing some nasty headaches. I've stuck with specs.

If I can give you one piece of advice. If your vision isn't to bad then when you go to renew your driver's license don't wear your glasses for the test. I've passed it both times I've had to take it. If you can't pass it without the glasses they write a little "with glasses" thing on your license saying that you must drive at all times with your glasses on. While I would never attempt to drive at night without my glasses (accident for sure :p) I would probably be OK during the day without them. I like not having the restriction though.

Oh crumbs, getting cheap frames, haveing never done this before, I just pointed out a pair. I'll be more prepared next time lol.

If I was that bad, would have gotten glasses looong ago out of necessity. :p

LOL I kept asking my mate next to me what the words on the blackboard were at varsity. It took an entire year of this before I admitted that I might need glasses XD
 
I have also, i use it most of the time except when im Playing sports, then its contacts time.

I started my first year of varsity in the row 3rd from the back. Throughout the year as my vision steadily deteriorated I moved further and further forward until I was sitting in the front row leaning over the desk squinting at the board and still battling to figure out what was scrawled there. Looking back it must have been funny for those watching it happen.

Yea I dive occasionally and as a result of my wonky left eye I just make do with blurry fish and coral and stuff. I can read the gauge if I stick it right up against my face thus ensuring I don't run out of delicious gasses so it isn't too bad. If I ever see something really cool and tell my mates afterwards they're highly sceptical in light of my visual impairment. :p

have specs. but wear contacts mostly because i'm on my bike - can wear sunglasses, and also the specs don't mist up in wet weather.
