or looser :erm:

I'm not a coder but I think this will be the result

Coupled with the good old 'write this for me quickly' makes me think my initial R10k may be a bit low :/

'Quickly' usually involves a lot of scoere creep and extra functionality expectations..

and OP will be one of those difficult customers not easily satisfied

Really, what's the value in this?
+ it's a little ridiculous that someone who can't code and wants a freebie, also gets to dictate the language.

To be fair, both Python and Perl are good candidates for the job. Maybe OP wants a "run anywhere" script.

I was very, very tempted to write a version and then pass it through an obfuscator but actually now you mention "dictate the language" I think I'll do an implementation in Actionscript.

LOL...
Both Perl and Python are fine; code in both. If he was a paying client, terms would be expected -- but at the first post of $$ he disappeared faster than a toupee in a hurricane.

ahh and if people misunderstood my "contribute" chirp if you were not interested in maybe writing this, assisting me, instead of all the white remarks, then let me put it simply, ye Admin/moderator, bar me, block me, don't care.

all the lovely commenters, SOD OFF.

I asked for help, and all that everyone could do was try and blame me, make me as the problem, instead of saying hell this will take 5 mins, let me do it.

I suggested, thinking that either of those 2 might be good options,

I can code, I use to, long ago, but never got proficient in those languages, but still know they might suit the requirement, if you wanted to do it, all you had to was suggest, hell I can do this, but I got a better option method in mind, which would have resulted in "hell yes please"

Try 8 years, C++, Perl, VB, Delphi, Clipper, PL/SQL
