Whose is PCMart.com?

but Arnie did mention to me that they are very strict on open or used stuff, which I can appreciate as I know that what I buying is new

In Esquires case, if you pay for something, it's yours. Open or not. Hell, I wanted to swap a CDROM with a DVD Writer just after I had paid for it and they said no. I had not even left the place yet (before Express shop).

can you imagine if every of your clients purchased an item and sent it back to you unopened after two weeks for a full credit , you would have every lost out on two weeks of warranty and still have to resell that item to another client with a full warranty

Thats not the way it works for importers. I used to work for one. If the failure rate is 5% then the supplier (e.g. BenQ) will supply the local importer with 105 for the price of 100. The importer then has to swap out with the clients using the extras. What comes back from clients gets thrown away.

now I only buy what my clients order so I do not go through the same hassles I had in the past

I have had good clients cancel on me even after I have picked the stuff up. It happens, they change their minds.

btw I am a Database Programmer

What do you mean by database programmer? You get database administrators and software programmers but very few people around the world write databases.

It is about time that computer shops that rip off the consumers get a good challenge from guys like PCmart as this ultimately brings down the prices, otherwise people like yourself would be making too much profit IMO. LOL;)

It's really rough to blame computer shops for ripping people off (Incredible Ripoff aside). Most are just trying to make an honest living. Importers, on the other hand, have a nasty habit of ripping people off.

Around July (before the HD4850 came out), I walked into the store (Woodmead). I went to see if they had the 8800GT. They had nothing in store.

I then walked about and really the prices didn't impress at all.

I,agree with you on this one if a product is unopened and bought within a reasonable time let’s say two or three days then your supplier should exchange it for another product or give u a credit , that is why I said that you need to have a relationship with your sales guy or woman (we now have these woman's Lib in this era) to sort this out for you as he/she gets the commission on the sale, so let them work for change instead on just being order takers. I don't know the company Comstar you mention in the recent thread as I am based in Cape Town and don't think they have branch down here but glad you finally got sorted out and would be careful not to deal with them in future .btw Axiz is the Main distributor for HP notebooks if my memory serves me correctly.
Regards
Joe

Well esquire here don't. I've seen it happen ... sealed box, and they refuse to take it back, even though it wasn't even 24 hours.

RE: Returns

You would not believe how many poeple in a day tries to returned a product to me after using it for a few days....

Best example over holidays. LAN parties. The customer come in and buy a switch and return it after a few days, but I know he used it for a LAN party, cause he asked me if he can use it and then returns it after he hosted his LAN party.
If I refuse....then all hell brakes lose. Same with these cold cathode tubes that is SEALED by the manufacturer. Example: If it is not 100% blue, like the blue he wanted they demand a return. How can I take a opened box back that can't be sealed again ?

Life is pretty hard in retail. So give the retailers some slag. If you buy something that can't be returned do not make life hell for the stores. You know what u where buying and you should have done a bit more research before acquiring the item, but instead it is easier to nail the retailer. Who cares ?

I'm not sure who your reply is directed to, but in terms of esquire ... their policy is once you purchase something, you cannot return it or swap it for something else. Regardless if it is sealed, returned on the same day.
Most suppliers give you 7 days to return with a 10% handling fee and usually no handling fee within 48 hours.
