I'm on mtn 100 (not topup). I had a samsung, but got my mom's nokia n8 recently to use, cause she didn;t like it. So now I can upgrade, and dont know what to get. I'm quite happy with the n8, lots of features to use.

But a few people advised me to go bb. Why should I get one? Why is it better to get?

I got my bold yesterday and realized I been missing out. Setup mail, fb, twitter, msn, et al... the only issue I had was transferring contacts from Nokia to BB... tricky but got it done in the end.

If you are really happy with your n8, then you don't need a blackberry. It has more features than almost any blackberry. Blackberry just gives you BIS and a qwerty keyboard on the bold - which I prefer over the other models.

No reason to get a Crapberry.

Syncing contacts and calendar with google sync is a breaze.

Reasons:
BB - N8
+typing: keyboard over touchscreen (your preference)
+navigating: Touchpad + average screen over capacitive touchscreen
+GPS: If you use GPS : Garmap or similar over Nokia Maps (nokia will take the win here)
+Apps: Appworld (4/10) vs Ovistore (6.5/10) - N8 screen size advantage gives you much better expericances with apps
IM: BBM , whatsapp over whatsapp on Nokia. Whatsapp is picking up so not having BBM is not a total tragedy
Internet: BIS gives blackberry a win here. N8= load up a R70 voucher for data and all should be well for average use in a month (+opera browser). I have a BB, and think I've used the browser once, maybe twice. The BIS I pay for is soley for BBM. When I want to browse the web= nokia E7+ Opera Mobile
+Multimedia experience : No questions asked, N8 takes it.
+Dont think BB have anything over nokia(or any other device for that matter) when it comes to push email since all OS's do it now

Hmmm seems N8 wins, but blackberry will always have BBM, which is the main reason most people go for it. Depending on how many friends etc have a blackberry to communicate will give you an idea of how much you need BB. N8 also will suffer with unstable software, but that should be fixed in ongoing updates.

N8 FTW!!! -- I don't know what BB my aunt has, I send her a contact business card from my N8 and she can't open it.. Blueteeth on my friends BB always is slow when he does get it to work.. I've endless stories about ppl with BB that have more issues than anything else.. N8 is great, the OS a bit dated, but Anna coming soon!

Screw both, treat yourself to an Android: Samsung Galaxy S or go big and get a dual-core based Android e.g. HTC Sensation, they smoke both N8 and BBs.

Unlike the various Android phones. the N8 (et al) don't need a dual core cpu to function optimally..
Most of the OS functions are hardware accelerated by the GPU.

Android OS doesnt require dual-core either, in its current form (2.3) it only uses one so doesnt take advantage of it fully yet runs beautifuly as many happy Samsung GS2 owners would tell you. ;)

Well ofcourse, nobody's denying that lol, but we are talking in terms of daily use: Web browsing, GUI etc... Point still stands, it doesnt require dual-core, main reason for dual-core is because of the 1080p video, 3D Media, and the fact that the upcoming Android Ice Cream Sandwich will bring multi-core support with a HW accelerated GUI, oh yes, as if BB and Symbian werent already screwed by Android they are now going to be proper f**ked :) along with WP. Only victim i hope survives is WebOS, that right there is quite an OS, and has yet to fully show us what its realy capable of.

Black Berry battery life equals 10 minutes

I absolutely agree with the WebOS point.
I hope that HP doesn't bastardise the OS. They have such a useless track record, that I have little hope.

WebOS has the promise, but will it survive against iOS? Android? That's a different beast. The Android cell market (re: OS versions) is such a hodge-podge, the only way Android will solidly knock iOS off its pedestal, is if they align their ducks in a row.

No doubt WebOS is a gem, I really hope HP has the kahunas to take it and fly.

if you're cool with the n8 stick with it...but if you absolutely must upgrade.., go android, webos, or even wp7... but if BIS is your thing, then by all means.. atleast you'll have the n8 too do all the things BB can not.

I've played with BB Bold, Torch & 8520 Curve; I've played with the N8; I've played with the Samsung Galaxy S II(may it be 5minutes, but still played with it), and I got the N97.

Out of all the above, the Samsung Galaxy S II wins hands down.

Yes, the BB has BIS, but with a decent data bundle, you dont need BIS.
Yes, the N8 has a 12MP camera, but if its professional photography/video you looking at, get a decent DSLR or similar.

Thats my opinion, I'm eligable for an upgrade in about a week/2 weeks time, and I'm definetly going for the Galaxy S2... Early this morning already purchased some accessories for it ;) hehe

And yes, if you happy with the N8, stick with it, if you can get an upgrade, get the Samsung, just don't go with BB ;)

Cheers

Um.... If you going pro, don't get anything BUT a DSLR....
Fact is (myself, anyway), Android and Symbian^3 can do anything you ask of them. For me, I put a priority on photography. That's why the N8 beats any other handset available - for me.

Usability - Galaxy S2 is wonderful. But then again, so is the iPhone 4.

Each to his own.
