Why are all "horizontal" channels choppy?

I've been having an issue with my DSTV for a while now- picture on some channels is "blocky"- like a scratched dvd playing.
The call centre said the decoder is stuffed- changed it twice but it happened again. Changed the cables- no luck.
I messed around in the settings and found that the affected channels are all on the horizontal signal.
What could be causing this?

I have noticed this on History Channel for a while now. Driving me bat*****. It is intermittent though and only on that channel. Not sure if History Channel is horizontal. Can someone explain in more detail HOW this can be caused by the LNB not being aligned correctly?

Never mind. I see on other forums that this a specific issue with Histroy Channel that MC blames on solar outages. Everybody call Bs on that one of course....

Happens on my decoder too.
However, a power cycle sorts it out just about every time.
(On my 4'th HD PVR already...what junk.)

I'll try...but according to DSTV forums the problem I have seems to be a specific History Channel problem.

Because the footage is so old they're trying to give it an authentic feel and look.

I've attended to a number of these issues since the change over to IS20. In 90% of those only the LNB skew needed adjustment. Previously with IS7/10, it allowed for more margin of error wrt the LNB skew, but on IS20 installers are finally forced to take this into account when aligning.

Only happens with me with some of the HD channels. Used to be only SSHD2 on some occasions, now with the new HD channels the MNet Comedy and MNet Action does it permenantly. Problem is, I dont have the SD channel anymore. The picture is choppy and blocky, almost like when you dowloaded a movie and in parts data is missing. In other words "dit haak vas" with blocky pictures. Sound is OK.
