Im an android fan but im getting really annoyed trying to find a good tablet with all the boxes that I need ticked.
I want a 9-10" tablet with a high res screen - no the 1280x800 res of most tablets is not high res.
I also want a tablet with built in 3G, I know I can wifi hotspot my phone etc but in practical terms its not as easy as just using built in 3G.

The nexus 10 is great for resolution but doesnt have the 3G.
The galaxy note 10.1 is great for everything else but doesnt have the resolution.
I know there are fongkong tabs that have "retina" screens but their battery life is terrible and so are most other features on them.

So does anyone know of an android tab that does all of that?
I really dont want to get another ipad.

Transformer Infinity

Although I haven't seen one available here :(

MediaPad HD
Transformer Infinity
and the new Sony tablet are all fHD. But yeah by and large Android tablets are bafflingly deficient.

There are a grand total of 3 Android tablets with Full HD or greater resolution screens, and I dont think any of them are available on contract in this country.

They are the Nexus 10, the Transformer Infinity and the Xperia Tablet Z.

This one one of my issues before I got my iPad 3 , no solid android tablets with decent screen and 3G.

Just get a iPad. i am in the same shoes as you. I own a 2yr old Samsung tablet and i think i will be upgrading to Apple.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z.

Will take a look at the Xperia Z thanks.
I dont want to go for apple again, have an ipad2 that the wife has taken over.
I do want a high res screen because I read quite a bit on the tablet.

Any one heard of the cube u10gt. Can get a second hand one for R500. Seems dirt cheap.
Specs
* 8 Inch 1024*768 Five Points Capacitive Touch Screen
* RK2918 Cortex A8 1.2GHz Android 2.3 OS 512MB DDR3
* Support external 3G
* Built-in Wifi G-sensor HDMI 1080P Output
* Front & Back Cameras, support online video chatting

For R500 its hard to beat, sure, but its CPU will be pretty slow by modern standards.

EDIT: Also make sure it can actually run jellybean!

Just remember that the Transformer Infinity doesn't have 3G AFAIK. A friend has one, it is stunning

I gave up looking for an Android tablet with everything and got an iPad 4 32GB 4G.
I love Android, but have come to recognise and acknowledge that Apple owns the tablet arena still.

With (roughly) quarter the resolution of an iPad?

EDIT: It is impossible to get an android tablet with better than 1280 x 800 resolution on contract in this contract. Yet you can get iPads with retina displays from the corner shop.

Why do Android tablet manufacturers still want to make 1280 x 800 tablets with the same price as an iPad?

One could apply the same logic to laptops after using a macbook pro retina, and say why are there no good Windows laptops? Retina macbooks have been out for a year now and nobody else comes close yet except for GPU performance.
