Why can Vodacom not fix their system

Yep. Prepaid. Which is inconvenient (imo)

Vodacom does not appear to have a workable contract offering to meet this need. (or if they do, it's so badly advertised /marketed or so byzantine in operation, that poor old me is not aware of it.

My phone therefore is set to 3G only - LTE is too dangerous to leave on.

Nope Prepaid doesn't solve it either.

Unless of course you are happy having all your airtime eaten when you never got a notification (or for that matter missed it).

So sure Prepaid by definition will guarantee out of control spending and a surprise down the line, but it's far from a solution.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly.

I actually forgot to mention that particular quirk which is that your airtime gets converted to data and chewed through as well.

Not available anymore I think, but I have a Huawei T1 8" with 1GB Telkom for R89pm and it can roam on MTN.

You are probably correct, maybe only 36 hours... mine was unplugged 6am and is now on 64%. And your mifi lasts how long with a hammered data connection?

6-8 hours give or take. When not in use it will go into its power saving mode. I'm on uncapped LTE so everyone uses it when I'm around, more reliable than campus wifi.

Vodacom advertise that they're technologically beter than the other mobile players. Do they have this (see below)? Telkom has.....
