Why Capitec is hiring right now

While a number of South African companies have announced the closure of businesses and staff retrenchments due to the coronavirus pandemic, Capitec has continued to hire employees and open branches.

If you offer no BS banking at affordable prices, offer easy to use electronic payment systems and zero cost debit card purchases, its bound to become known and make other banks sit up and take notice and increase your customer base

A shop I own changed banking and point of sale from Nedbank to Capitec 3 years back. The monthly bank fees for everything, from EFT payments, point of sale and stop order fees dropped from R4800 to R285. That is 1/20th of what it used to cost. The staff were each given R500 a month extra.

The point of sale costs were R2920 and are now R175.

Therefore Capitec have got their business method correct. The Nedbank branch supervisor (they don't call them managers any more) said I would regret changing to Capitec since they used dodgy and insecure business practices, gave unsecured loans, and were a tool of greedy businessmen and soon would increase their fees 10 fold

Talk about sour grapes
