I'd be extremely interested to know from this informed Forum the reasons why so few South Africans jailbreak their iOS devices - especially iPhone's?

For me, my primary reason is the Cydia app: BiteSMS and the ability to schedule sms's.

With iOS 7.1 on an Ipad, there is less necessity to Jailbreak since the selection of apps is that much better

As an iPad user - found all the apps I need. No need to jailbreak.
As a former Android user - never felt the urge to run custom ROMS and whatnot on my phone
As a current WP8 user - don't see a need to.

In fact, to me it makes perfect sense that only the minority would jailbreak stuff - the super geek power users. The average guy just doesn't give a **** and is happy with the way the damn device works.

You've answered my question! Thank you.

Yeah but you can't install moviebox like the OP and there is nothing else out there like it :erm:

Wow... you can say that again! IMHO it's way better than NetFlix, having subscribed to the latter. I use AdBlocker to block its banner adverts.

As someone who has owned a galaxy s2 for 2 years and hasn't bother rooting or changing roms (I know how to though) I am perfectly happy with the stock firmware and there's nothing I can really gain from doing so. I can imagine the only reason you would want to jailbreak an iphone is to pirate apps and change a theme.

The only reason I jailbroke one of our iPads was because I wanted to see how XBMC performs on it. Other than than, I see no point to jailbreaking it.
If the day that I need to schedule an SMS finally arrives, then I'll do it from the Vodacom website.

If something went wrong who would fix it? You'd probably have to get a MYbb forumite to help.

I felt that it slowed down the device... But anyway, I jailbroke my iPod Touch 4g (that made it slow) and also jailbroke the iPhone 5 (that was great) but when iOS 7 was released, I moved to that and never found the need to jailbreak after that and sold it anyway before the iOS 7 jailbreak was released

People who would jailbreak prefer Android with more customisation especially with ROM choices even over an iOS device.

Jailbroke every device I had until the launch of IOS7. Always for Winter and Summerboard. No need now IMO.

Since iOS 7 and switching to Plex I have no need to.

And updates are and always will be a pain in the ass.

I didn't know how to - sounded like effort

Is easy and small tweaks such as jelly lock make it worth it.
