Why does EXCEL not work properly with Windows Alt+TAB application switching, for some reason you have to press ALT + TAB and then hold down ALT and press TAB a second time to able to switch to the next active program if I am are currently working in EXCEL?

Drives me nuts, EXCEL is the only program that exhibits this issue and every so often I have to copy lots of figures from a PDF document to EXCEL and I can't quickly jump from EXCEL to the PDF file, especially seeing my muscle memory is ALT+TAB once, so even if I remember the first time to do press ALT + TABx2 by the 2hnd time I try switch I forget and only press TAB once. EXCEL even exhibits this strange behaviour if you are switching between 2 EXCEL documents. Using ALT+TAB to switch from any program back to EXCEL works fine it's going the other way that it's screwed up.

F##K YOU MICROSOFT!!!

Edit: I'm on Windows 10 Pro

Works fine here, tabs through all open sheets then moves on to next program, tab again back to previous active sheet.

Just to confirm you are using the type of ALT+TAB switching that looks like the below:

And you can tab away from EXCEL with a single ALT+TAB?
Are you on Win 10?

Use Google Sheets or Libreoffice...
And whilst doing that don't forget to use Telegram??
Is that what your lame ass is trying to say??!

And back to the topic at hand, anyone have something to help with my example of Microsoft's programming perfection?

Try creating a new instance of excel and using that to open the sheet.

But yeah it's a complete pain especially with lots of sheets open.

If you think google sheets is an Excel replacement then you're either drafting grocery lists or you're certifiable.

haha wow. Grocery list theory confirmed.

Sorry airborne for derailing.

+1

I have about 100 financial model spreadsheets with macros working only on Excel.

Even Excel on MacOS is not working properly with all of them.

Mine works as expected; Office 365 on Win10.

Now, the non-standard clipboard that Excel uses... Grr.

Have you also noticed this weird ALT+TAB behaviour with excel?
Creating a new instance of excel doesn't help though, with me same thing happens with any excel window.

Not consciously no

tbh I'm not using a lot of alt tab these days. After a dozen windows it's faster to just use the mouse.

Also, get them to give you more screens. Helps with the PDF + Excel open

I found a solution!
A Alt-tab replacemnt : http://www.ntwind.com/software/vistaswitcher.html

Works like charm, switches straight from Excel to whatever other program you are working with including a PDF viewer.
Also has this:

Switch between Windows of the Same Application

VistaSwitcher adds even more comfort to your everyday PC work by offering a feature that Mac users have already been enjoying for a looong time – namely, switching between open windows of the same application such as Microsoft Word documents or multiple Explorer windows. Now you can cycle through your open documents as easily as you do with your open applications, using Alt + ` (grave accent or backtick) – just like on a Mac.

And this:
With VistaSwitcher, you can switch between applications only on your active monitor
Support for Multiple Monitors

Are you using macros in the spreadsheet? Office 2016/13/10??

2010 you can try this: In Excel Options -> Advanced -> Display -> Uncheck "Show all windows in the Taskbar"
