Why does Samsung make Universal Print Drivers?

So I installed my new Samsung Printer - the M2070 series - from the Driver CD and all was good.
Then I ran the Samsung Software Update Utility to check if the drivers were the latest.
It installed some newer driver versions, but it also installed a "Samsung Universal Print Driver" and made that the default.
Now the printer won't work, and I can't uninstall the Universal driver because it is not listed in the Installation List.

EDIT: Oh, and it did the same thing with the scanner as well - now that won't work either.

Nope, doesn't work... Just sits there with this notification... but it does nothing.... Doesn't actually print.

I would also remove all those samsung apps listed above and start from scratch.
