Why doesn't GMSA sell Isuzu KBs with long load boxes?

I was on the US Chevrolet site, and came across their Colorado double cab. It's basically an Isuzu KB, but with Chev styling. Here in SA, the KB doouble cab has a load box length of 1483mm. The USA sells the Colorado double cab in short box and long box variants. The short box is 62 inches which is 1567mm, while the long box is 74inches, which is 1880mm. The US, long box double cab has a bigger load box than the SA extended cab, which is 1795mm.

Why doesn't GMSA sell KBs with bigger load boxes? I've always felt that double cabs have load boxes which are too small. For me, that US long box double cab would be great.

The one reason that I thought of was the tax issue. Since double cabs are not given a VAT benefit in SA, do manufacturers only sell small box double cabs, as they would most likely not be used for commercial purposes?

Think it has to do with the classification of the vehicles. You need a Code 10 to drive a Ford F250 as an example. Thus the reason for the shorter load boxes on double cabs. X Cabs have a normal load box but not the LWB variant and a Double cab has a shorter version of a load box.

Just my assumption anyway.

I think you'll find that it's single cab bakkies that are VAT deductible not double cabs.

That's a typo, it should have read, "are not given a VAT benefit in SA,".

I thought that SA only cares about the GWM, not the dimensions. From what I understand, you need a C1 licence (one of the new licences from the old code 10) to drive a vehicle with a GVM of over 3.5 tons.

My bakkie is very close to 5meters in length. Any longer and it would be very big tbh. I get the weight thing you're saying but I think there is more to it.

Anyone else? I find it odd that in bakkie mad SA, we don't have this sort of option.

my vehicle is about 5cm shy of 5m, making parking a problem. If you leave a bit of space between the nose and white line(parking bay on other side) then the car sticks out past the end of the parking at the back.
