Why did humans evolve to not have tails?

To answer that question you'll have to study why other animals have tails and what they are used for.

We're all born with that and yea that is the remnant of what was once our tail. I think he is talking about like a full on vestigial tail that sticks out though.

As to why we don't have tails we just don't need them. We don't need them for balance, we don't need them for helping to navigate tree branches, we don't need them for anything.

A fibrous caudal appendage is hardly the same thing as a normal tail though. Sure it shows that our ancestors may at one point have had tails but to call that thing a tail is a serious stretch. It has no bones, no muscles, no ligaments. Just a long thin mass of fibrous connective tissue.
