Thought I' d post my thoughts on this in the faint hope that one of the dev's will read it and forward the comments.

First let me say that there is more than enough sapce for both games but I fear that DOTA2 will probable pull more players away from HON, here's why?

1. The game is not balanced: end of the day in DOTA one can choose more or less any intel hero and have a chance of carrying in a game but that just does not work in HON. Many HON games are decided purely on choices unlike DOTA.

2. Failure to bring in classic heros.
these heros are what made HON fun and they are just not in HON and I know that S2 wanted to create something unique but they should have opted for uniquness after they had made the classic heros:
Balaran; meepo; cetaur warchief; Panda; storm panda; alchemist; Huskar; dragon knight; lucifer; pit lord; sk; magnataur; phantom lancer; templar assassin; ursa; clinkz, broodmother; pa; dark seer; twin headed dragon; ezalor; enchantress
why are these heros still missing? these guys made the game fun.

3. server issues.

4. alternate avatars that make the hero look totally different and makes it harder to have a "classic" standard balanced game.

5. Also S2 tends to ignore their customer base instead opting to only give true support to peoplE who are pro level.

thoughts from other guys would be appreciated.

I do agree that DOTA 2 will kill HoN, but DotA is a lot better balanced than HoN. LoL will be able to survive as it's different to HoN and DotA and more of a fun game.
I don't know where you get the idea that an intel hero can carry a team in DotA. Yes they are strong in the beginning but later they are very squishy and any real carry will mess them up with good team work.
I also believe that DOTA 2 will be a huge success with the backing of Steam, they already confirmed that they will be holding a competition similar to The International (had $1.5 million prize money) every year.

...these heros are what made dota* fun and they are just not in HON and .

1. Not true, but then again everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

2. Again this is a matter of opinion, HoN was never supposed to "replace" dota, you can't say that they are failing to bring in classic heroes cause they never said they were going to do so.

3. There are actually very little server issues compared to LoL/Dota, so not sure what the issue is there, HoN has a very good track record compared to other games in this department.

4. I agree here but I also can understand why they brought it in, servers cost money after all.

5. Not sure about this one, I feel after using the forum now and then that they could improve on this, it's not terrible though.

I will still play HoN when Dota 2 comes out, or maybe I'll be too preoccupied by Bf3/mw3, time will tell. :)

1. You talking about LoL or DotA?
2. Can argue DOTA2 fails to bring anything new to the table, by sticking to classic heroes they've made no space for new heroes.
3. Server issues are over exaggerated, it happens with other games too and I have a feeling DOTA2 will be no different, VALVE is gonna have to deal with the service providers and real world events too.
4. Valve already announced alternative skins for DOTA2
5. They only ignore the trolls which have basically completely taken over the forums, they're has been a ton of community suggestions implemented in the game already. They've been way more involved with the community than most other game companies.

I will play both until I decide which game is better

Hon is faster paced compared to dota

I heard people on http://www.sahon.co.za/ are below s**t compared to the guys on international servers. Good latency wont make you a better player.

I play on the international whats funny though is the so called "pros" that rage like hectic

My ideal would be is to play clan matches on international with average players playing against average players as this is the most fun you can have

I don't play HoN. Used to play DotA. But let me tell you something, every game has ragers and not only "pros" rage. I've seen a lot of average players rage more than the "pros". If you decide to play only against average players, your skill will stay average and there will be little to no improvement in your gameplay.

True

I play a lot of COD, Battlefield and Team fortress online as well and HON just seems to top it as almost every game you will have a rager

Yes you should try to win but also understand that everyone is new sometime I have about 500 games on my name so I consider myself as mid and try to understand but yeah such a awesome game that the ragers ruin for all of us

Hmm. Maybe, but thats like saying that South African tennis is s**t compared to the guys playing tennis on an international level? Thats not really an argument in my opinion. SAHoN has some pro's and some tards (almost like retail) but the main difference is that

3. server issues.

Is not a viable argument for South Africans because we can play on sahon.co.za.
